The running part

So The title of my blog is Eating Running Living. But at the moment, I can't run. And it really sucks.


 About 3 years ago I was running a lot, and ended up with a stress fracture on the outside of my left foot. I was in an aircast for 4 weeks and couldn't run for almost 2 months. Lame. 
On my run the other day, I started to feel some pain in the exact same spot. I am hoping that by catching it early, and giving myself a total break from running for a couple weeks the issue will resolve itself in time for my next triathlon. It's a sprint triathlon, so if worse comes to worse I can walk the 5K run portion.


In the meantime, I will be focusing on the other two tri events- biking and swimming. For most people, the swim is the part of the triathlon they dread the most. Not me! For me, it is the bike. I have never been great at biking and it is the event that slows me right down. In my last Triathlon, I was 105th overall coming out of the water (out of about 300 people) and I ended up finishing in 157th. So many people flew by me on the bike it was ridiculous.


I guess this injury could be a blessing in disguise. I love to run, so I spend most of my training time running. This way I am forced to work on my biking weakness. I had to redo all of my training plans, and here is what I came up with for this week:

Monday

Tuesday
Pool Swim 1500 hard, Livefit Day 1- chest and triceps
Wednesday
Bike 20KM, Lake swim, Livefit Day 2- back and biceps
Thursday
Livefit Day 3- legs and calves
Friday
Pool Swim 2X 750 hard, Livefit Day 4- shoulders and abs
Saturday
Off
Sunday
Bike 20Km, Lake swim 40 min


I have been thinking about trying the Livefit workouts for a while. For those of you who have never heard of them you can check them out here. I am going to be doing the strength workouts, but I'm not going to be following the cardio reccomendations or the diet. I just need to get a little more structure for my strength training, and this program looks like a good one. I'm going to keep track of my measurements and progress and keep you updated!
