I made a goal for myself to read 52 books this year. I read 3 this month, bringing my total up to 12 so far. Here are my thoughts on this months books:
1. Gold- Chris Cleave
This book follows two friends, Zoe and Kate, on their journey to the 2012 London Olympics. It jumps between the viewpoints of Kate, Zoe, their trainer, Kate's husband Jack (who is also an elite cyclist), and Kate and Jack's daughter Sophie who has leukemia. The timeline bounces back and forth between past and present, exploring the events that lead Zoe and Kate to be competing for the only spot in the 2012 Olympic games. This book is about more than the sport though, it follows the relationship between Jack, Kate and Zoe, which turns out to be quite interesting.
I loved this book! There were some great twists and turns, and I was drawn in until the very last page. A must read for sure!!
2. The Boy Who Sneaks Though My Bedroom Window- Kirsty Moseley
I learned 2 valuable lessons with this book... 1.read the reviews, 2. If a book costs $3.00, there is a reason!! This book had a really good rating on goodreads, and the synopsis made it sound like a decent book, but sadly it was not. I struggled to finish it. Once I finally got through it, I went and read the reviews and discovered that people either hated it, or loved it. I was definitely a hater. There were so many typos and grammar errors (I have horrible grammar, so me noticing that is saying something!), and the characters just kept saying the same things over and over... it reminded me of a high school version of 50 Shades of Grey. Not a fan.
3. Heartstopper- Joy Fielding
Mysteries are my favorite genre to read. This book kept me guessing to the very end, which I love! Usually I have the bad guy figured out by the end of the book, but not this time. If you are a mystery fan, this book is for you :)
With a 2 week long Spring Break coming up I am hoping to get lots of reading done in March. I am halfway through the newest James Patterson book, and I have 3 more books waiting for me on my e-reader!
Check out the books I read last month here.
Any good book suggestions for me?
