Weekend happenings!

You know those weekends that are so busy that they don't even feel like a weekend?

This weekend was one of those!

On Saturday we had a  fundraiser at my dad's glass shop to raise money for my cousin who is currently fighting cancer. It's amazing how much everything can cost, even with medical coverage. We had a BBQ and my dad, brother, uncle and a couple of friends did windshields all day, with all of the proceeds going to help Kirt with the costs of her treatments. We raised quite a bit of money, it's amazing to see the generosity of friends, family and strangers when someone is in need!

Once we got home on Saturday night, I was zonked. 8:30 hit and I peeled myself off the couch and went straight to bed!

After going to bed so early on Saturday night I was bright eyed and bushy tailed at 6:00am on Sunday. That was good because I still had lots to do to prep for my best pal Michelle's bridal shower!

We had such an awesome time! There we 14 ladies in attendence, and I think everyone had lots of fun! We played a couple of quick games -how well do you know the bride and groom, wedding vow mad libs, newspaper wedding dresses, and a game where I asked Cody questions beforehand and then asked Michelle the same ones to see if she could duplicate his answers.. they're good!

Everyone!
After the games, it was food time!! Since I was in charge of the shower, and Michelle is kind of a health nut, I was able to make lots of goodies that were paleo approved! Michelle's mom (who is amazing and is the queen of healthy snacks) even brought a paleo spinach dip that she made up the recipe for!! I made 2 different fruit dips- the caramel brownie one from Paleomg was a hit!! I also made two treats from Healthful Pursuit- The Itty Bitty Strawberry Coconut Tarts, and the Banana Drunk Macaroons... there were only crumbs left at the end! ( I also made the 5 ingredient toffee from Healthful Pursuit one night with the best intentions of having some left for the shower...  it didn't happen. Best paleo treat ever!!!)
Will built the cupcake stand!
Some friends came over early and helped me put together a fruit bouquet. I've always wanted to make one, and it actually turned out not too bad!!

After the food came the present opening, and after the present opening  came the bubble blowing! Michelle's aunt got her some bubble wands so we went and played with them in the yard for a bit! The dogs really enjoyed chasing and jumping after the bubbles! It was the perfect end to a busy weekend!
The beautiful bride to be!

Baxter was all over those bubbles, high or low!

    1. It was very entertaining to see how they both reacted so differently to them! Baxter was running around after all of them , Murph was a little more selective :)

  2. Glad you guys were able to raise so much money for your cousin.

The bridal shower sounds like a blast! I'm going to have to remember some of these paleo treats next time I'm bringing a dish to my friends who eat paleo (or just to try myself). Sound all good!

Love the newspaper dresses- I've only ever seen toilet paper dresses.

    1. I made up a paleo freezer cookie recipe the other day and they were so good! I'm definitely going to be posting it next week! They're my new favorite treat :)

The newspaper dresses definitely stemmed from the toilet paper dress idea, we'd done it at the last couple of wedding showers so I thought I'd switch it up a bit and try something new!
