4. Parent night last week was the most terrifying night of my entire life. It went pretty well though and I only stumbled on my words a minimal amount of times. Great success!

May/June/July/August books read

I'm falling behind on my reading!!!

May, June, July and August were busy, but I did manage to read 11, bringing my total to 28 for the year. I'm still hoping to reach my total of 52 by Dec 31st, but I feel like that means I'm going to do a heck of a lot of reading on Christmas break! Can I count textbooks? Because I have been reading a lot of those lately!! I'm also trying to decide if Audiobooks count. I have to drive for an hour and a half at least 2 times per week so I'm thinking those might be a good way to pass the time.

*As a side note, does anyone else decide that they really like a song or two and put them on repeat for like an hour straight? Yeah, me neither.

1. Nineteen Minutes- Jodi Picoult
 19-400
This book is about a school shooting from the perspective of a few different people, including the shooter, and the girlfriend of one of the victims. I really loved this book, it was the first Jodi Picoult book that I read, and as you can see by the rest of my selections, I have a new favorite author!

2. The Pact- Jodi Picoult
 The Pact
I loved this book so much! I don't really know how to summarize it without giving away and major parts of the story, so just read it. You'll love it too!

3. Night- Elie Weisel
A white background with patches of blue. In the foreground, a figure in black, no features visible; around him, barbed wire. Above the figure are the words "Night," Elie Wiesel, winner of the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize, with a new preface by Robert McAfee Brown, and "A slim volume of terrifying power," The New York Times.

I read this book in high school and really enjoyed it, so I decided to read it again. It was written by Elie Weisel, who is a survivor of the WWII concentration camps. The book chronicles his experience. It is such a powerful story, I highly recommend it if you haven't already read it.

4.Dark Places- Gillian Flynn

I really loved Gone Girl, so when I saw another Gillian Flynn book as a suggested read on my ebook I decided to give it a go. I enjoyed this book, definitely not quite as much as Gone Girl though.

5.House Rules- Jodi Picoult

House Rules - 2010

I'm having such a hard time deciding which of the Jodi Picoult books is my favorite. House Rules is about a boy with Aspergers syndrome who is obsessed with crime scenes and anything to do with them. When his tutor is found dead he becomes a suspect. The thing I love about Picoult's books is the twists at the end that you don't see coming, and I definitely didn't have this one figured out.

6. Vanishing Acts-Jodi Picoult
Vanishing Acts

This was probably my least favorite of the Jodi Picoult books. I liked it, but it definitely took me longer to get through than the other ones. Again, hard to describe without giving the major events away.

7.Perfect Match
Perfect Match

This one was definitely one of my favorites. It's about a prosecutor who tries to put child molesters behind bars. When her own son is molested, she decides to take justice into her own hands. It was a really great read.

8. Is Everyone hanging out without me?- Mindy Kaling
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

Simply Hilarious. Perfect for a light read. If you're a fan of the Office or even if you aren't, it will have you rolling on the floor. I really want to be Mindy's best friend after reading this book.

9-11. The Hunger Games Trilogy

Another re-read. These books are phenomenal, it took me a long time to get on the bandwagon and read them, but once I got into them I couldn't put them down. So great! If you haven't read them yet, DO IT NOW!!!

I have a few more Jodi Picoult books to read when I get time, I'm really looking forward to reading My Sister's Keeper.

Anyone read any good books lately? Tell me about them!

Practicing Gratitude- Willy!

This guy.

We celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary on August 28th.... well as much as you can celebrate when you're in two different places! I had to be in Invermere for work, and Will was in Bull River so we didn't get to see each other. We went out for a nice dinner on the Saturday when we both got home though, so that was great!

Our 3 year wedding anniversary marks seven and a half years exactly since we started dating.

That picture is the first one I have of us after we started dating. Note the chubbyness of my face.. nice no? I think I had a good 25 pounds on him then, thank goodness the tables have turned!!

We've had lots of amazing adventures along the way, and I can't imagine anyone else that I'd rather be making memories with. There's been lots of ups, a few downs and he's been there every step of the way. He puts up with a lot, and I am so grateful to know that he is always there for me.

Love you Willy! Happy 3 years of being married, here's to many more!

Highlights of the summer

This summer was a whirlwind!

We were so busy, and I feel like I hardly blogged at all! I did manage to write about a couple of the highlights....

Michelle's bachelorette in Banff

Getting my first real teaching job, even though I wore 2 different shoes to the interview

Ummmm... yup. That's the highlights that I did blog about. Other highlights included Will's brother's wedding (at which I took zero pictures, oops!), visits from different family members, trips to calgary, hiking up the ski hill, and lots of nights sitting around the fire. I just love summer!!!

The major highlight of the summer for me was definitely my best friend Michelle's wedding! It was the most awesome wedding I've ever attended, and I feel like I have attended a LOT of weddings in the past couple of years!

We had the rehearsal dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, and it was super delicious! Great food, and great drinks :)

Nancy, Me, Michelle

Heather, Ali, Kirsten

Me with the soon to be newlyweds!
We spent the night before having a giant slumber party at the ski hill in Kimberley (that's where the wedding was held). Michelle got us some sweet tanks from Firedaughter clothing on Etsy, and they all had cute/funny workout slogans on them! We went to bed relatively early, but spent the night listening to the Cody and his groomsmen giggling and pillow fighting in the suite above ours.

Wedding day was perfect, I'm going to let the pictures do the talking since you're probably tired of listening to me blab :)

Cody looking a wee bit nervous!
So beautiful!

Signing my name- I even spelled it right!
Bathroom break!
Snacks in between the ceremony and reception
The 5 of us started going to school together in grade 3!

Such a great day! Once Michelle gets the professional pics back I will beg her to let me share some... please Mish??

Getting back into a routine is taking a while. Grade 1 is exhausting! I have been in bed by 8:00 every night and passing right out. I feel like I'm getting a handle on it though, and I'm going to add exercise back in next week- halleluiah! I am feeling rather fluffy (to put it nicely) lately and I am so excited to get back on track!

Tell me- What was the highlight of your summer?
