Move it Monday {2}

Happy Monday!

Back to the real world this week! I had an awesome 2 weeks off, but I'm ready to get back into a routine :)

Here are my workouts from last week:

Monday: 45 minute run/walk with the puppies, 15 minute Ab workout
They're always ready to go!

Tuesday: 40 minute run with le doggies, 20 mins focused stretching <---- hate="" i="" p="" so="" stretching="" this="" tough="" was="">
Wednesday: Crossfit 60 mins including warm up and cool down

Thursday: 30 min walk

Friday: Crossfit  60 mins including warm up and cool down
The ladies at crossfit. I'm the one doing pushups (dying) by the back door.
Saturday: Hour and 45 minute walk with my girlfriends at the track

Sunday: No workout!

I found it really easy to fit workouts in when I wasn't working. It should be interesting to see how this week goes! I was aiming for 60 mins/day last week, I didn't quite get that so I will try again this week!

Three Things Thursday

Getting right to it....

1. I never want spring break to end! I am loving having so much time to get outside and run with the dogs, work on my course (I got my first paper back and got 100%.. woohoo!), and organize my life! I really love organizing!

2. I am so happy that I started crossfit again! Today's workout included 100 jump squats to pull ups and my hands are destroyed. I'll spare you the pictures.. you're welcome :)

3. I spent a couple of hours on Pinterest today browsing photo tutorials. I have had my DSLR for a couple of years and have not bothered to move out of auto/portrait mode. The best articles I read today were this one, this one and this one. You can check out my photography board on Pinterest here!

I got a couple of good pictures of the puppies shooting in manual mode:

Always so serious!

I also played around with the shutter speed and a match in my bathroom and came up with this one:

I can't wait to get my hands on some sparklers and play around with writing words :)

Happy Thursday Everyone!!

Anyone have any photography tips for me? Favorite sites?

Race Recap- Diakonos St. Patricks Day 5K

This race went sooo much better than it did last year!

The weather was so much better, I think it was even in the pluses which was awesome! It was a beautiful blue sky day, and I was pretty excited to run.

It snowed a little the night before making the course kind of slippery, so I was definitely trotting in some spots as opposed to running.  I realized I forgot my Garmin- I don't think I've ever done a running race without it before. I tried to use map my run but couldn't get it to work so I ran blind... or something.

I was frustrated at the start of the race. So many walkers started at the front and walked in big groups of 4 or 5. It was really hard to try and get around people, and I finally had to start asking people to move. I spent most of the 1st km trying to get around these people. I understand that it was a fun run, but it is still super irritating! *rant over*.

I ended up finishing in 28:29 which was a whole minute faster than last year- yahoo! The whole run felt pretty good, and I thought I was keeping a pretty decent pace despite running only a few (OK, 3) times since January. I just haven't had the motivation lately, and I was hoping that this race would get me back in the mood... it definitely worked. I'm already really excited for my next race in Spokane at the end of April, especially since Will agreed to run with me!

This race is a super fun one. People get right into their costumes, and the volunteers are the best! So many little cheer stations along the way! There is a great post race refueling station with coffee, water, tea, fruit and granola bars. They have a ton of door prizes too, my friend Ali ended up winning a tee shirt!  I highly recommend checking this one out next year if you are in the Calgary area.
Group sock shot!
