I have read lots of great books this summer, there is nothing that beats sitting outside in the sun reading! Here are the books I have finished so far, as well as a quick review/synopsis of each:
Lone Wolf- Jodi Picoult
I just finished this book and I really liked it!! It took me a little longer to get into than other Jodi Picould books, but once I got into the story it was great. It is about the difficult decision that has to be made by a brother and sister after their father has been in an accident that leaves him with a brain injury. The point of view in the story jumps around, mostly from the brother to the sister, but you also get the point of view of their mom and her new husband. Each chapter has a flashback from the father, who spent most of his life immersing himself into different wolf packs, trying to become a member of them in order to study them. One thing I really ended up liking about this book was how much I learned about wolf packs! In true Jodi Picoult fashion, there are twists and turns that keep the story interesting.
Divergent Series- Veronica Roth
I have had the first book in the series since last summer, but wasn't able to get myself into it! Once I sat down and read the first couple of chapters, I was hooked! I read the first 2 books in 2 days, but the last one took me a couple of days to finish. If you enjoyed the Hunger Games books, you will definitely like this series. I am looking forward to seeing the movie, has anyone else watched it?
Unlucky 13- James Patterson
The 13th book in the Women's Murder Club series. I mostly enjoyed this book, but I must say that the last couple of books in this series have been a little off. The way the characters talk and just the style of writing is so different from the beginning of the series, it seems like the books are being written by a totally different author. It is too bad, as I love the original James Patterson style. Anyone else read this series and agree??
Where the Stars Still Shine- Trish Doller
This book was really great! It is about a girl, Callie, who is kidnapped by her mother when she is young and spends her life running from town to town trying to avoid being caught. When her mom is arrested, Callie is sent back to live with her father who she doesn't really remember. This book follows her adjustment after moving in with her father and his new family.
The Guilty Plea- Robert Rotenberg
This was probably my favorite of the books I have read so far this summer. Its a murder mystery that seems like it's a simple one to solve, however like any good murder mystery there are a few twists that keep you guessing!
My Life Next Door- Huntley Fitzpatrick
This book is an easy read. Sometimes the mindless, young adult books are just what I am craving! In this book, the main character Samantha comes from a family where everything is always neat, tidy, and orderly. She falls in love with the boy next door, whose family is the complete opposite. After a terrible accident, she must make a decision about where her loyalties lie.
I am looking for a few more books to read before the summer is over, any great suggestions for me??
