I don't always pretend to be a good boy....

My brother created this cute little meme today with a picture of like that I sent to him! I had quite the giggle at it this morning :)

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Mr. Luke- 4 months

I can't believe Lukey is 4 months old already (a week ago)!!

We went to the doctor last week, and as Eli (still) likes to say, "Luke a big boy!" He is weighing in at 16 lbs 5 oz (71st percentile) and is 27 inches long (97th percentile). He has to wear 9 month PJs since his body is so long. He's still wearing 3-6 month pants though, he's got short little legs! He is getting up 2X per night to eat, which is wayyyyy better than before, so at this point I'll take it!!

Fourth month likes:
Still LOVES bath time! He can be so cranky and as soon as we walk in to the bathroom he's all smiles.
He's a bad little gangster!

Chatting with Baxter. Or Will. Or Me. Just chatting in general!

Tummy time. It's pretty much his favorite!

Fourth month dislikes:
He freaking hates naps more than anything in the world. As soon as we walk towards his bedroom, he is instantly mad and starts to cry. It is getting exhausting trying to get him to go down.
The big lip comes out anytime he has to go for a nap
Conversely, he LOVES waking up from his nap! He's always full of big (or silly) smiles!

Fourth month highlights:
First Christmas tree

First walk in the sling

Happy 4 months Lukey! We love having you in our lives, I think we'll keep you :)

Weekend Recap

This weekend was so excellent! Will is finally home from work until after Christmas, WOOHOO!
My crabby boys!
Taking selfies, waiting for dad to come home

We went over to my brother's for pizza and some cousin hang time on Friday night.
Luke can't believe how much further Brooke can lift her head off of the ground!

Saturday morning was spent throwing out our Christmas tree- it was deader than dead! That's what we get for buying one instead of going out to get our own. We got the new one set up, it's not nearly as nice but at least I don't worry about it burning the house down anymore :)

I also did lots of baking and house cleaning in preparation for our annual Christmas party! This year we decided to do a murder mystery, and it was so much fun!! We had a great turnout. Luke went to his papa's house for a couple of hours, it was nice to not have to worry about keeping the volume down for him.

Will and I joked that we are getting old, I'm pretty sure at our first party 8 years ago we were kicking people out at 3 am. This year, everyone was gone by 10:45. Whomp whomp.
Throwback to our first Christmas party... I am wearing clothing!
Sunday was a nice lazy day, we stayed in our PJs just hung out and played with Luke... It's my new favorite kind of day!
I feel like he just needs a cigar and a glass of scotch to complete this picture!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Canadian Blogger Christmas Swap

This year I was partnered with Amie at Running On Healthy for the Christmas ornament swap! I was excited about the pairing since her blog has been on my reader for quite a long time. Aime is a Beachbody coach (check out her awesome Facebook page here), spin and yoga instructor, and basically a fitness lady extraordinaire! I love the motivation that I get from her blog, definitely one of my favorites :)

My package was filled with all sorts of awesome goodies!! There was a Starbucks gift card (which I used yesterday to enjoy an eggnog latte!), a David's Tea ornament filled with some delicious smelling tea that I am saving to enjoy on Christmas morning, and some Epicure Seasoning for BBQ ribs that
I am SO excited to try!
My ornament was the cutest little minion! My nephew Eli is obsessed with minions- he was even one for Halloween, so every time he comes over he searches the tree and says "Eli (he talks only in 3rd person) find minion in auntie's tree!". It's pretty cute.

The minion hiding in the tree ;)

Thanks so much for a great Christmas package Amie!!

Lately we have been busy!!

Will has been working away a lot, but was home for 4 days last week so that was awesome! He and Luke had lots of very in depth conversations.

He also built a mantle for our fireplace while he was home, I love how he can just come up with an idea and make it look awesome!

We got some pretty awesome texts from my sister, including some video of her taking steps (with lots and lots of assistance, but still so awesome!!) She is at the brain rehab center in Kelowna right now and making excellent progress, I'm so proud of her!
Picture we sent her after she sent us the walking video
Luke has officially started teething and is chewing on everything in sight!!

We have been hanging out with Eli and Brooke lots

And getting ready for Christmas!
Christmas trees and Christmas sweaters are the best!!

I went to a cookie swap last week, which also helped with getting into the (delicious) holiday spirit!

I traded these...

....for all these delights!
I'm looking forward to having Will being off work for a couple weeks, having my sister home for a 3 days at Christmas, and experiencing Luke's first Christmas! It's going to be an awesome month :)

Luke- month 2 and month 3

Since the second month of Luke's life was a little bit insane, I decided to combine it with his third month... mostly because everything just sort of blends together...and because I'm way behind!

Sleeping was definitely our biggest challenge in month 2, and about halfway through month 3. Luke's nighttime sleeping pattern was to sleep for maybe an hour or two in his bassinet, and then cry the rest of the night unless someone was holding him.

When we went to Kelowna to see my sister, we figured out that he slept much better on a bed (Will and I slept in one bed, and Luke slept on the other). When we got home we tried him in his crib instead of his bassinet, and he instantly started having a longer first stretch of sleep (2-3 hours instead of the 1-2). He would then get up to eat about every hour after that, and sometimes wouldn't go back to sleep for a loooooong time. Between the stress of everything going on with Linds, him not sleeping, and Will having to go away for work for a week at a time, I'm surprised I didn't lose my mind!
Loving stretching out in his crib :)
Eventually I decided to try and get him on a really loose eat, play, sleep schedule, and it almost instantly worked wonders! The first and second nights he only got up twice to eat, and since then he's only gotten up once around 3 for a feed and gone right back to sleep! It's been 2 weeks of awesomeness!!
He's all smiles when you go to get him after his naps!

According to his cousin Eli, "Luke a big boy"! He is totally right, he is weighed in at 14 lbs 6 oz at his last appointment (which was a week ago). He is way bigger than Brooke now, she didn't get to be the bigger cousin for very long!

Second month likes:
Bath time

Second month dislikes:
Sleeping in his bassinet
Being hungry for more than 20 seconds

Second month highlights:
Meeting cousin Kinsley for the first time

First smile! (this wasn't it, but it was the only semi smiley picture I snapped in month 2!

Third month likes:
When someone gets him up from a nap
Going for walks in the stroller
Watching the mobile over his change table

Third month dislikes:
His swing (he hates not being able to reach the mobile)
Still hates being hungry
Starting to not like naps (what the heck? I love naps!!)

Third month highlights:
Halloween Spooktacular

Trick or treating with Aunty Linds in the van

Aunty Nin cuddles

Wearing 6 month clothes (how did this happen already??)

Daily smiles!!
On the night before he turned 3 months, he slept through the night! Woohoo, go Luke! (side note: it hasn't continued)

Three things Thursday

Time for some Thursday randomness!

1. It snowed yesterday!!! I am one of those strange people who loves snow, so I was pretty excited! Time to break out the Christmas music :)

2. Some girlfriends and I get together every couple of weeks and do a craft or DIY project. Yesterday we finished up these adorable Christmas decorations
(They aren't glued down to the bottom yet, that's why the snowman is hanging off the end!)
I need to think of a Christmassy or wintertime saying to go along the red part at the bottom... Any ideas??

You can find the tutorial HERE

3. I really love making cookies, and can't wait to start Christmas baking! I added some festive sprinkles to the homemade oreos I made for my brother and sister yesterday to get them in the holiday spirit :)

#4 (bonus!!)
I'm currently finishing this blog post while cuddling with a sleeping Mr. Luke... I just love this kid!!

I hope everyone is having a great day!!

Weekend recap on a Tuesday :)

Luke decided yesterday that naping is not for babies, so I didn't get a chance to do a weekend recap post!
This is the (very awake) face I got pretty much every time I tried to put him down!

He is being much more agreeable today, so I have a few minutes to get it done :)

On Friday evening I got to go for my first outdoor run/walk since Luke was born! It was so nice to be outside instead of on the treadmill. I am starting off slow with the couch to 5K, it is incredible how much slower I am now... I guess 9 months of not much activity will do that to a person :) Will had to go to work Saturday morning, so we spent the rest of the evening watching a movie at home and hitting the hay early!

On Saturday morning Luke and I headed up to my mom and dad's to visit with my mom and my nephew, who had a sleep at "Ramma's home"! We came at a good time, it was time for pancakes!
Pictures of Eli are all action shots these days!

Saturday evening we headed to Kimberley to go for dinner with some friends, and Luke was very well behaved! It was his second time going out for dinner since he was born.

Sunday afternoon we headed to Luke's pal Teddy's first birthday party. It blows my mind the Teddy is 1 already, does time ever fly! We got Teddy a book for his birthday called The Boy Who Lost His Name. If you've never checked the Lost My Name books out before, I highly recommend taking a look, they are so cute! It's what my niece and nephew are getting for Christmas this year.

Teddy reading some of his new books!

Sunday evening we headed up to the hospital to visit with Aunty Nin. Her left arm is getting so strong, she was able to hang on to Luke for the first time in 6 weeks! I had to sit beside her in case he decided to try and escape, but he sat and was quite content for about 10 mins!

This picture makes me so so happy. When Linds was first in the hospital I remember saying over and over to Will that Luke needs to get to know his Aunty Nin, and I can't even put into words how overjoyed I am that it is happening!

In other news... I started dressing this guy in his 6 month clothes today... yikes! We are off to get his shots in about an hour, wish us luck!
